Neurodiversity is not a limitation — it’s a different way of experiencing the world. Our comprehensive autism assessments help parents understand their child’s strengths, needs, and learning profile, so they can move forward with clarity, confidence, and meaningful support.

Led by a Licensed Educational Psychologist with advanced training in the ADOS-2, the gold-standard assessment tool for diagnosing autism spectrum disorders.
Autism presents differently in every individual, but there are often shared patterns in how a person communicates, interacts, and experiences the world.
According to the CDC, children with autism may find social cues or group settings challenging, prefer routines for comfort, or experience strong sensory sensitivities to sound, light, or texture. Others may show remarkable focus, creativity, or memory in specific areas of interest.
While these traits can vary widely in intensity and combination, each reflects a unique way of thinking, learning, and connecting. With the right evaluation, understanding, and support, these differences can become powerful strengths that guide meaningful growth.

Every child is different, but you may want to consider an autism evaluation if your child:
Struggles with eye contact or social connection
Prefers playing alone over engaging with others
Is highly sensitive to sound, textures, or changes in routine
Uses repetitive behaviors (hand-flapping, lining up toys, etc)
Shows strong focus or deep interest in specific topics
Has been flagged by a teacher, doctor, or daycare provider
If you’ve noticed any of these traits, an evaluation can give you answers and help you plan your child’s next steps with clarity and confidence.
We know that pursuing an autism evaluation can feel like a big step, but at Bridge Educational Psychology, our process is designed to be clear, compassionate, and supportive from start to finish. Here’s what you can expect:
You can book online or contact our Bakersfield office directly to find a time that works best for your family. We offer flexible scheduling, including weekday and weekend availability.
Before testing begins, we’ll meet with you to gather information about your child’s development, behavior, communication, and daily life. This helps us tailor the evaluation to your child’s unique needs.
Your child will participate in structured activities and play-based tasks, often using gold-standard tools like the ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule). We observe communication skills, social interaction, eye contact, behavior patterns, and sensory responses — all in a calm, child-friendly environment.
After the evaluation, we’ll meet with you to review the results in plain language. You’ll receive a detailed written report including:
Diagnostic impressions (if applicable)
Strengths and challenges
School and home recommendations
Referrals for therapy, support, or school services
We serve families throughout Bakersfield, Kern County, and across California through in-person and select remote evaluations, depending on your child’s age and needs.
